History

Review past dictations, play back the audio, and clear your records.

Every dictation is recorded on the History page: what you said, what was inserted, how long each stage took, and which application you were dictating into. It is the fastest way to find out why a dictation did not turn out the way you expected.

The list

The table shows the transcript, the model used, the audio length, the total processing time, and when it ran. Columns can be sorted, and the search box filters by transcript text.

Details of a run

Opening a record shows:

  • The raw transcript, the formatted output when formatting ran, and any error the run produced.
  • A timeline of every stage — preparation, resampling, context, transcription, enhancement, and injection — so a slow dictation can be traced to the stage responsible.
  • The application you dictated into, the profile, the language, the Whisper backend, the models used, and the recording duration.
  • An audio player for the original recording.

Transcripts can be copied to the clipboard from here.

Where it is stored

History lives in the oiper.db database and the recorded audio in the audio/ folder, both inside OiPer's application data directory on your machine. Neither is uploaded anywhere.

Note that a record includes the name, title, and path of the application that was focused when you recorded. In oiper mode it also includes text read from that window, which is sent along with the audio to improve accuracy. If that matters for what you dictate into, clear your history regularly.

Clearing history

Delete all history removes every record. It cannot be undone.

Dictionary

Teach OiPer names, jargon, and terms it keeps getting wrong.
